A paratha is a flatbread that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is still prevalent throughout Pakistan and India,and Myanmar, where wheat is grown and is the traditional staple of the area. Paratha is an amalgamation of the words parat and atta which literally means layers of cooked dough.[1]

Aloo paratha (Hindi: आलू पराठा; “potato paratha“) is an Indian[1] and Pakistani recipe and one of the most popular breakfast dishes throughout western, central and northern regions of India as well as in Pakistan.[2] Aloo parathas consist of unleavened dough stuffed with a spiced mixture of mashed potato, which is rolled out and cooked on a hot tawa with butter or ghee.[3] Aloo paratha is usually served with butter, chutney, curd or Indian pickles in different parts of northern and western India.
